Human Resources Director plans and oversees human resources functional operations, including talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, safety, and compliance.     We are assisting our client, Valley Cabinet Inc., with the recruitment and selection of a strategic, hands-on Human Resources Director. Valley Cabinet Inc. is a family-owned and operated company providing the finest quality custom wood cabinetry. Counter-Form is a sister company that manufactures laminated countertops.

    This position is in-person and is primarily located at the De Pere, WI location but must be willing and able to travel to other office locations as needed.

    The Human Resource Director will provide hands on strategic leadership for the Human Resources department at Valley Cabinet. The HR Director will manage the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to: policies and procedures, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, performance and talent management, leave administration, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, recognition, and training and development, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the overall talent strategy.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
    • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
    • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
    • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
    • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
    • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
    • Lead an effective and efficient administration of the performance management process, making sure that the organization’s managers are equipped to engage in constructive and ongoing feedback and coaching, collaborate effectively when co-managing staff, and encourage staff to actively participate in identifying and addressing performance gaps
    • Develop and implement a compensation strategy that aligns with the organization’s overall business goals and objectives. Conducting market research to ensure that the company’s compensation packages are competitive and attractive to both current and potential employees; provides counsel to hiring managers on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluations.
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
    • Develops and implements departmental budget.
    • Must be willing and able to travel to other office locations as needed.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
    • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
    • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
    • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
    • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • At least five years of human resource management experience required.
    • HRCI, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification highly preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
    • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
    • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

    Ability to perform the essential functions of the position including, but not be limited to the following:
    • Office environment – use of office equipment including computer, telephone, copier/printer
    • Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period
    • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
    • Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
