Infection Control Manager develops and implements infection control policies designed to reduce or eliminate outbreaks in the facility. Develops and implements facility-wide infection prevention and control measures to protect patients, staff and visitors. Being an Infection Control Manager monitors patient care for compliance with established standards and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control. Develops and provides related education to staff. Additionally, Infection Control Manager complies with state, federal and Joint Commission standards relating to infection control. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Infection Control Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.       ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      Full or part time employment as designated and on call as necessary with the rotation schedule of fellow staff members.
      Knowledge of departmental equipment and procedures pertaining to Radiology and Cardiology.
      Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and requirements for Radiologic Technologists.
      Knowledge of all required responsibilities from an accredited Radiologic technology educational program pertaining to physics, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, radiation protection, radiation safety, body positioning, knowledge of technical exposure factors, and compliance with The American Society of Radiologic Technologist Code of Ethics.
      Adhere to staff scheduling determined by Imaging Services Manager.

      Participate in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

      Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times and report violations to the Privacy Officer.

      Understand and comply with the requirements of the Saunders Medical Center's Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Policy, all Saunders Medical Center-wide policies for compliance, and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities.

      Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by Saunders Medical Center policy and as requested by the Supervisor.

      Demonstrate personal traits of a high-level commitment, motivation and energy; team orientation; professionalism; trust; personal honesty and integrity; and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value and treating them with dignity and respect.

      Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Advanced certification and or experience in CT, MRI Mammography, and or Ultrasound preffered.

      SUMMARY

      Perform daily business operations tasks and support hospital and clinic billing procedures with accuracy and timeliness.

      Prepare hospital and clinic charges for entry and ensure all charges are accounted for and accurate.

      Data entry, posting payments, preparing deposits, reconciling billings, claims submissions, checking balances, accounts payable and maintaining patient records.

      Support daily postings and end of month closings.

      Audit accounts and charges to ensure accuracy, prepare QA reports.

      Answer inquiries from patients regarding account charges, insurance payments and balances due.

      Works with third party payers/patients to assure timely payment on accounts.

      Assist with special projects as assigned.

      Back up other positions within department when vacations, medical leave, absences, etc. occurs.

      Maintain skills/competencies required for this position.

      Participate in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

      Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times and report violations to the Privacy Officer.

      Initiate, monitor and document effectiveness and follow through on all quality projects.

      Coordinate and lead the LTC quality management meetings.

      Coordinate resident immunizations and annual flu vaccines.

      Compile, monitor and document infection control reports.

      Assist in supervision of supplies, storage, and sanitation of all work and storage areas.

      Supervise all aspects of the restorative care program.

      Teach current and new staff EMR documentation. Be trained as an EMR “super-user”.

      Assist the IT department in implementing EMR updates for LTC.

      Assist and take part in weekday/weekend call rotation as requested.

      Assists the MDS Coordinator when needed to complete full MDSs, care plans, and care area assessments.

      Complete Resident Discharge Summaries within 30 days of discharge.

      Organize and file discharge summaries, as well as inactive charts.

      Practice the proper fire, safety and disaster procedures as set forth by SMC.

      Participate in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

      Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times and report violations to the Privacy Officer.
