Summary: To provide technical leadership, support, and assistance to the district staff and students for software, hardware, and network infrastructure for the district’s technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Summary:
- Evaluate, assess, and provide consultation to district staff members regarding the selection of technology equipment and software for instructional and administrative purposes.
- Provide leadership in planning, developing, articulating, implementing, and evaluating the district’s technology program in collaboration with the Superintendent.
- Assist in preparing the district’s annual budget with the Business Manager related to technology services, software licenses, and hardware purchases.
- Assist in implementing Board policies and/or administrative procedures as well as state and/or federal laws governing student and staff use of technology.
- Act as a resource to administrators and staff in the use and applications of technology.
- Establish procedures for technology installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, personally providing such services whenever possible and recommending outside assistance as needed.
- Provide and support district technology needs.
- Review the district’s applications and work with vendors to make presentations on upgraded software applications and hardware items.
- Represent the district at area meetings and attend conferences that focus on technology in education.
- Courteously and effectively work with students, staff, administrators, vendors, and the public at all times.
- Perform all such other duties assigned by the superintendent.
- Knowledgeable and follow all district policies.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Configure and monitor switches, access points, firewalls, routers, and data storage systems and software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues and other technology-related issues
- Understand and have familiarity with virtual machines, currently using VMware esxi.
- Oversee Erate, selection of ISP, and network equipment.
- Maintain backup of all onsite district data and verify its integrity, which the district is currently utilizing Veeam.
- Responsible for network security.
- Deprovision and dispose of obsolete and unused equipment.
- Responsible for the systems connected to the network, such as phones, security cameras, door access systems, sound systems, etc.
- Excellence and experience with PC hardware and software.
- Installation of peripherals like printers, touch panels, document cameras, and cabling systems like local area network cables.
- Experience with TCP/IP & LAN based networking support and troubleshooting from a pc support perspective.
- Provide effective troubleshooting and accurate solutions to advanced hardware and software computing problems for Windows, Chromebooks, peripherals, and mobile devices.
- Lead technical activities involved in new technology introductions and technology training for staff.
- Create a strategy for hardware rotation/refresh.
- Deploy and administer IT systems, including end-user desktops/laptops/Chromebooks, computing servers, network equipment, voice and video hardware, and mobile devices.
- Responsible for managing the desktop image, upgrades, security patching, and configuration and testing necessary to ensure the environment works effectively.
- Collect, clean, and get Chromebooks ready for students each summer.
