Develops computer training materials and assists in teaching how to set up and use computer applications and related technologies. Additionally, Instructional Technology Specialist typically reports to a manager. The Instructional Technology Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • JOB SUMMARY

    This position is located in the District of Columbia, Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO). The purpose of the position is to provide technical support and administration to assigned District government agencies.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The incumbent performs call center technical phone support for multiple District agencies and schools. Performs triage and technical assistance in a multi-platform environment. Gathers incident information, troubleshoots, updates, resolves and/or escalates to appropriate groups. Remains abreast of developments in current technologies and related industry best practices and the extent to which these developments may benefit the District government. Receives telephone calls from customers requesting technical assistance. Triages, troubleshoots, escalates or resolves incidents. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

    Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR IT related experience; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
    AND
    Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CS-7 grade level, or its non-District equivalent, gained from public or private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is directly related to, IT Specialist work. This experience includes but is not limited to providing technical assistance through triages, troubleshoots, escalates or resolves incidents in a Call Center environment.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

    Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and/or Mac OS X certification. Incumbent holds a Microsoft Certificated Professional (MCP) and/or Mac OS X certification. If the candidate possesses only one certificate, he/she must obtain the other certification within 12 months of hire.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
    The work is sedentary in nature. The work is performed in an office setting with local travel required.

    Position Designation: This position has been designated as Security Sensitive, pursuant to section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C Personnel Regulations. A criminal and background check is required.

    Essential/Emergency Designation: This position may have an Essential or Emergency Employee Designation. The incumbent may be required in essential or emergency situations or when authorized by the agency head to perform critical tasks.

    Residency Preference: When claiming residency preference, you are required, and must agree in writing, to maintain bona fide District residency for a period of seven (7) consecutive years from the effective date of employment. You will be required to present documents (proofs) to show District residency and failure to maintain bona-fide District residency for the seven-year (7-year) period will result in forfeiture of employment.
