Instructional Technology Specialist supports faculty members utilizing information technology in support of teaching and learning. Develops computer training materials and assists in teaching how to set up and use computer applications and related technologies. Being an Instructional Technology Specialist may troubleshoot technical problems and train junior staff members. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Instructional Technology Specialist typically reports to a manager. The Instructional Technology Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public Schools

    Title:  District Instructional Technology Facilitator

     

    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology or related field
    2. Massachusetts teacher’s license / Instructional Technology license
    3. At least three years of successful classroom teaching experience including concentrated experience with technology integration
    4. At least three years of successful educational leadership experience particularly in collaborative planning, providing staff development and coordinating resources
    5. Successful experience with integrating data software and equipment to support improvement in learning and instruction;
    6. Experience or knowledge working in 1:1 Initiative and working knowledge of Chromebooks and Google Suite
    7. Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the teaching and administrative staff
    8. Other duties where appropriate 

     

     The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.

    Job Goal:

    To improve learning outcomes for students by facilitating the appropriate use of technology in the classroom; to provide opportunities for all staff to improve and maintain the professional standards of technology by providing ongoing professional development; prepare and seek grant funding relative to technology and the integration of technology with the curriculum





     Responsibilities:

    1. To support the appropriate use of technology in implementing the Fall River Public Schools Strategic Plan, the District Technology Plan and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks

     

    1. To design lesson plans, projects and instructional materials that will effectively use technology to support standards based learning, inquiry based instruction and differentiated instruction

     

    1. To plan and present staff professional development highlighting and supporting technology use and the implementation of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district initiatives

     

    1. To coordinate with other district leaders in the design and implementation of technology initiatives with the district’s system of support to schools in need of improvement

     

    1. Collaborate with school/district leadership and outside partners to develop and execute strategic plans

     

    1.  Facilitate teacher and student leadership teams



    1.  Participate in in-person and virtual learning to build capacity to be an effective coach, including monthly initiative-specific online Coach meetings

     

    1. Participate in facilitated, online and in-person professional development including trainings outside the district as required

     

    1.  Lead and support all faculty in the integration of effective uses of digital technology through a consistent pattern of strategic outreach and informal support through direct coaching, modeling and co-teaching

     

     

    •  Collaboratively develop engaging lessons with faculty and provide support through classroom observations, modeling and co-teaching

     

     

    1. Nurture and grow student opportunities for leadership in technology and STEM

     

      

     

    1. This position may be solely based at a single school or require travel between several schools.

     

    1. To collaborate with the Office of Instruction  to support PK__12 curriculum initiatives

    Salary and benefits according to the Fall River Educators Association contract

    Continued employment is contingent on availability of funds, program need, and job performance
