Dual Credit Instructor Faculty-Oral Communication

Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position will be to teach up to four sections of COMM 101 online each semester. At least half of the seats in each section will be reserved for Dual Credit students. In addition, the successful candidate will assist the Oral Communication Dual Credit Faculty Liaison in providing guidance for new and existing high school teachers concerning course content, delivery, and grading policies; supporting UI Dual Credit in meeting National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnership (NACEP) accreditation guidelines; completing and documenting site visits as needed; and leading or participating in professional development activities with school-based Dual Credit instructors once a semester to complete a total of 8 hours of professional development per academic year (Aug through July).
In summary, this position will support the demand for online dual credit oral communication courses, which will serve Dual Credit students across the state of Idaho whose local high schools do not offer dual credit Oral Communication classes. Appointment renewal for this position is considered contingent upon the continuation of work and/or funding.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MA degree in Communication or closely related field
- Experience teaching online undergraduate courses and effective mentoring of undergraduate students;
- Excellent communication skills;- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff on campus and across the state.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Communication- Previous experience teaching college-level oral communication/public speaking- Previous experience teaching online undergraduate courses- Previous experience mentoring undergraduate students- Previous experience working with high school students and/or faculty/staff
- Ability to teach Interpersonal Communication
