Instructor - English teaches courses in the discipline area of English. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - English provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - English typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. This position will work at the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan. Position will be required to work 40 hours/week.
Start date August 3, 2023.
Summary of Work
Work involves individual and/or classroom instruction of youth and in a Correctional Facility. Subject taught will be English. Position is offered a 10 month contract with the option for a summer school contract.
Duties and Tasks
Participate in program and curriculum development.
Develop course objectives and prepare lesson plans.
Plan and implement instructional methods techniques and procedures used in presentation.
Participate in teacher meetings, teacher in service, and other required meetings.
Counsel or tutor students as necessary.
Prepare and maintain scholastic records.
Prepare and maintain reports as required.
Minimum Qualifications
This instructor position requires a teaching license valid in the state of North Dakota in English or the ability to become a licensed teacher in the state of ND.
