Instructor - Medicine teaches courses in the discipline area of medicine. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Medicine provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Medicine typically reports to a department head. May require a license to practice medicine. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Unit/Schedule
- Childbirth Education
- Per-diem, 36 hours in 6 week schedule (minimum)
- 12-hour rotating shift 7a-7p and 7p-7a
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia - preferred
- Graduation from an accredited program for Registered Nurses - preferred
- Graduation from a certification training seminar of at least 18 hours duration within the specialty area hired to teach, required.
- Exempt from certification requirement if employee has met the requirements for classes to be taught through previous experience and education
- AHA CPR card
- 3 years Maternity Nursing and/or Childbirth Education experience
