Patient Scheduling Representative

Position Summary: Primarily responsible for scheduling patient appointments whether at check-out or on the phone. Is a member of the support staff team.

Supervisor: Patient Services Lead Coordinator

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for check-out, answering phones in the scheduling queue and other responsibilities as needed
• Responsible for helping to coordinate outside referrals to other facilities for testing
• Other responsibilities as assigned
• Acquire knowledge of inter-office responsibilities to better serve the patient.

GENERAL:

• Maintains strict confidentiality.
• Presents a polite, professional and courteous manner to the patients at all times, and be willing to meet the patient’s needs.
• Participate in compliance of OSHA/HIPPA/OIG regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Full time position (40 hours/week), one-half hour lunch

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school education or G.E.D.equivalent.
• Previous medical experience in an outpatient setting with electronic medical records experience necessary.
• Understanding of medical terminology is a plus.
• Proficient computer skills with database experience
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Reliable, motivated, team player.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Professional written and verbal communication skills

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

1. Physical Demands:

Lifting Requirements: 10-20 lbs.

Frequency of Lifting: 0-25% of the time

Average percent of time during regular shift devoted to:

Standing, Walking, Bending, Reaching: 25%

Sitting: 75%

Additional considerations of the Physical Demands are:

* Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb or forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach for (above shoulder height).

* Ability to listen to dictation and transcribe verbal message simultaneously via computer keyboard.

* Ability to operate multi-line telephone system; computer keyboard; ten-key adding machine.

2. Vision, Hearing, Dexterity, and Mental Demands:

Vision: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as read computer terminal or electronic medical record.

Hearing: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as answering the telephone.

Speaking: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as communicating via telephone and in person for the purposes of appointment scheduling and providing patient information.

Dexterity: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as sorting papers; stapling; operating computer keyboard or typewriter.

Mental Demands: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as calculating for patient co-payments and properly crediting patient’s account. Position may periodically encounter unfriendly or hostile individuals regarding scheduling conflicts etc.

3. Working Conditions:

Position requires work in normal office environment 100% of the time. No special uniform or protective equipment is required.

Hazardous materials exposure minimal and limited to normal office supplies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
