    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • In collaboration with the Associate Dean, Dean, Department Chairs, and academic support staff, develop a progressive, thoughtful, and longitudinal academic assessment plan to ensure student assessments within the nursing education program following best practices and appropriate for the learning outcomes.
    • Oversee the student evaluation system, serve as resource person on assessment requirements.
    • Review the assessment policies and procedures, and recommend changes based on best practices of benchmark institutions and expectations of accreditation agencies.
    • Work with the NAWSON curriculum developers and academic support staff to inventory assessment information and assessment instruments through a comprehensive data collection and analysis necessary for reports to accrediting bodies, and to demonstrate that learning assessment has occurred and the ways which the School used the assessment results to improve the formative and summative student assessments.
    • Prepare and analyze reports setting forth progress, trends, and appropriate recommendations for quality improvement. Assist with the design and editing of assessment annual reports.
    • Assist in the development of an electronic data base for storing pertinent information related to student learning and reporting and a comprehensive website for use by faculty, students, and accrediting organizations.
    • Assist in the coordination of, appropriate development related to assessment of student learning outcomes for departments, schools, faculty and staff.
    • Assist with the administration of applicable external assessments such as the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).
    • Teach assigned course in the undergraduate or graduate nursing program. Specific priority of need is Population and Global health with knowledge and skill to teach analysis of large population data sets to identify issues and develop solutions.
    • Participate in curriculum development and creation of competency-based assessments for the nursing program.
    • Serve on committees as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Instructor Minimum Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Nursing from a college or university of recognized standing.
    • Current unrestricted RN license to practice in Hawai'i.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time work experience in the area of nursing specialty: population or public health nursing, and analysis of large data sets to identify issues and develop solutions.
    • Demonstrated understanding of and acquaintance with assessment of student learning outcomes, the requirements of governmental and accrediting agencies, and specific and effective assessment practices.
    • With significant administrative experience in higher education preferred, particularly in the area of academic assessment.
    • Engaged in professional practice with a similar patient population and level of patient acuity where they will be assigned for the purpose of supervising nursing students.
    • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively, provide clinical supervision, provide student feedback, and direct group discussion.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively meet, interact and confer with others.
    • Demonstrated competency in interprofessional team work and team science.
    Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree in Nursing from a college or university of recognized standing.
    • Current unrestricted RN license to practice in Hawai'i.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time work experience in the area of nursing specialty: population or public health nursing, and analysis of large data sets to identify issues and develop solutions.
    • Demonstrated understanding of and acquaintance with assessment of student learning outcomes, the requirements of governmental and accrediting agencies, and specific and effective assessment practices.
