Interior Aircraft Assembly Manager jobs in Gillette, WY

Interior Aircraft Assembly Manager manages the interior fabrication of aircraft including mechanics, the fitting of sub-assemblies to the aircraft, and final aircraft interior production. Ensures compliance with all engineering, FAA, and customer regulations and specifications. Being an Interior Aircraft Assembly Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to interior assembly team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Additionally, Interior Aircraft Assembly Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. The Interior Aircraft Assembly Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity.     Job Responsibilities:

    1. Responsible for the efficient and effective management of all assembly processes.

    2. Responsible for a quality on time completed projects.

    3. Mentor, coach and train entire team. Develop less qualified employees.

    4. Inform Production Manager of all employees that are untrainable or incapable of meeting deadlines, bid hours or keep GPF quality standards.

    5. Report insufficient workers to Production Manager and issue employee two chances to improve or terminate if the employee is incapable of growth.

    6. Provide Production Manager and HR with copies on a weekly basis of all formal “write ups” addressing with employees regarding (poor performance, improvements needed, not following procedures, etc.

    7. Identify assembly manpower needs. Look over applications, set up interviews, choose who to hire and negotiate wage and start dates.

    8. Request approval from Production Manager and inform HR on new hires and re-hires. Submit termination paperwork on all terminations to HR and employee write ups.

    9. Forecast project completion delays ahead of scheduled shipping dates and inform Production Manager and Project Managers of the cause of delay and any resolutions to stay on schedule.

    10. Hold all assembly department employees accountable for shop cleanliness and organization practices.

    11. Responsible for end of shift walkthrough. All doors shut and locked. All GPF tools put in tool cage. Responsible for any tools signed out and not returned. All welding machines turned off.

    12. Inform Production Manager on all damages to equipment or facility and coordinate repairs with Maintenance Manager, provide details of issue and provide any possible fixes.

    13. Report all lost, stolen or damaged equipment with details of incident to Production Manager.

    14. Hold all assembly employees accountable for routine maintenance of all welding machines, threading machines, drill presses, mag drills, chop saws, rigging, and any other GPF equipment.

    15. Conduct quarterly evaluations of each employee; provide constructive feedback to each employee on their individual performance. Provide a copy of each evaluation to senior management.

    16. Attend all KOM. Provide insight from the floor to help improve our processes and product.

    17. Report any questionable designs flaws on the floor with Project Manager and Production Manager as soon as possible. Question any design that “makes no sense.” Provide feedback and ideas on how to correct.

    Daily Reporting Requirements:

    1. Inform Project Managers and Production Manager of all material, drafting, design, rework and QC issues. Provide a resolution to each problem at hand.

    2. Create email chain on each project of all parts, quality and project issues.

    3. Meet with department employees daily to asses’ project status. Confirm each employee knows project bid hours, current production hours and project completion date.

    4. Attend daily managers meeting to discuss daily goals, bid hours, ship dates, quality issues, parts issues, personal issues and provide solid feedback on project status

    5. Provide strong communication daily to Production Manager, QC Personnel, and Project Managers on project needs. Highlight areas of concern to all parties when quality, ship dates are not met.

    6. Hold daily goals meeting with crew, discuss the daily agenda, assign each employee a goal/goals for the day and follow up hourly to ensure goals are being kept.

    7. Inform Production Manager of daily missed production goals that will affect ship dates.

    8. Workplace injury requiring medical care. Death or risk to life, limb, or eyesight—immediate phone call. All others—email with details of injury to senior management and HR.

    9. Report any employee identified as positive for COVID-19 or known exposure to an individual with COVID-19—email with details to senior management and HR.

    Weekly Reporting Requirements:

    1. Inform Warehouse of all projects be slotted into production the following week.

    2. Asses’ department hours weekly. If Overtime is required to maintain ship dates, provide a list of job numbers with requested amount of overtime hours to production manager every Wednesday morning in mangers meeting. If OT is required aim to keep under 20% of total hours worked.

    3. Provide Production Manager with a shop lay out of all upcoming jobs projected out 6 weeks. Provide start and stop dates on each project based off hours. Any time a project misses projected start date or end date send out an email ASAP to Production manager and Project Manager with reason why project missed the date.

    4. Attend all production meetings. Provide constructive information, project a positive attitude, provide honest feedback, have all start/end dates dialed in six weeks out on production schedule.

    Pay: $20.56 - $24.76 per hour
