Local Area Network Engineer

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Exempt; 8 hours per day; Full-Time; 12 month position

SALARY: NC 15

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Minimum Associate degree in Computer Science or related field or four years of experience repairing and maintaining technology related equipment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s Degree, and/or applicable certifications preferred, such as CCNA, MCSE.

• Strong knowledge of network switches including design, implementation, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of wireless architecture including design, implementation, and maintenance.
• Experience with VMWare virtual and physical server design, implementation, and maintenance.
• Experience with Microsoft Servers, Active Directory, Office365, GSuite for Education, PDQ and other software management platforms.
• Advanced ability to manage all aspects of technology projects to completion.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.

DUTIES: 
• Serves as a team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.
• Provides senior level assistance to technical support staff.
• Assists with the installation, maintenance, and problem tracking of local area networks, file servers, and other related peripherals under the supervision of the Chief Technology Officer.
• Works closely with the Chief Technology Officer to develop and implement long and short-range technology planning that aligns and supports district goals.
• Uses a work-order tracking system to manage tasks and projects.
• Exhibits professional responsibility to computer ethics and security of data and information. Maintains data privacy of users and systems.
• Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
• Maintains documentation regarding configurations, and operating procedures of servers and networks.
