Laboratory Assistant jobs in the United States
Laboratory Assistant performs research activities in a laboratory environment to aid in the planning, designing, and conducting of experiments. Collects, prepares, and tests samples and records measurements or observations. Being a Laboratory Assistant prepares reports detailing results and conclusions, applications, and methodology. Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks on lab equipment to ensure working order. Additionally, Laboratory Assistant assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials and the ordering and stocking of materials and equipment. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Laboratory Assistant work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Laboratory Assistant typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Savannah Technical College seeks a part-time, Professional Labortory Assistant for the Cosmetology program. The laboratory assistant will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to:
- Assisting faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, adherence to safety procedures, tracking attendance and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction.
- Tutoring or mentoring students.
- Performing laboratory research.
- Cleaning/preparing labs as needed.
- Obtaining materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials.
- Assisting in school sponsored events, fundraisers and other various activities pertaining to the Cosmetology program.
- Assisting with maintaining inventory organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years full-time, paid work experience within the past seven years.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and Saturdays.
- Ability to travel to Hinesville and/or Savannah.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to Minimum Qualifications, 1 years’ experience working in a hair salon or barbershop or related industry business.Physical Demands - Health Sciences - Job requires classroom and laboratory
Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the laboratory environment. The employee frequently lifts/carries objects that weigh 50lbs. or less. Full range of hand and finger motion is required for data entry purposes.s.Salary/Benefits
