Laboratory Information Systems Coordinator coordinates, develops, and maintains the scope and performance of laboratory information systems projects. Maintains project documentation by formulating and implementing policies and procedures. Being a Laboratory Information Systems Coordinator maintains and updates the system. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Laboratory Information Systems Coordinator typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Laboratory Information Systems Coordinator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.   • Under general supervision, provides instruction to students in the CIS program. Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.  Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required.  Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills.  Demonstrates knowledge of current procedures in the Computer Information Systems field.  Follows approved course syllabus.   Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.  Monitors students’ use of supplies, materials, and equipment.   Attends meetings as required and appropriate.  Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations.  Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College system of Georgia Policy Manual.  Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Master degree in Computer Information Systems or related field is required with 18 graduate hours in Computer Science. Candidate must be proficient in major programming languages (Oracle SQL, Java, C and C ).  Degree must be from a regionally accredited private or public postsecondary institution.  Appropriate degree will reflect the requirements of the institution’s accrediting agencies and state and/or national licensing boards.  Three years paid work experience.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience in PC repair, computer architecture and database administration are preferred. CCNA or CompTIA certifications preferred.

     

    May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community.
