The Director Laboratory Services will:
Serves as Director of the Department of Laboratories with responsibility for planning organizing, directing and coordinating the administrative and operational activities associated with providing laboratory services at Saint Peter's University Hospital. The Department Director is responsible for providing effective leadership. Oversees the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care services provided. Integrates the departmental service into the organization's overall system for delivering care. Facilitates the coordination and integration of inter and intra departmental care/services provided to the patient via meetings of TQM committees. Participates in the development, approval, review and revision of departmental policies and procedures that address department/service functions. Implements and distributes the policies and procedures and ensures that they are current and readily available to staff. Recommends an adequate number of qualified and competent staff to provide care and services. Ensures staff competence including contract service personnel. Oversees the implementation of any required Quality Control Program. Ensures that all staff are oriented to the department/service and provides the opportunity to participate in continuing education. Recommends space and other resources needed by other departments/services including relevant off-site sources for needed services.

Requirements:

• Ph.D., M.S. or B.S.M.T. (ASCP)
• Minimum of 5-8 years of experience
• Meet CLIA Requirement for general supervisor.
