Position Description:
Responsible for the day-to-day laboratory operations as well enhancement of the company’s testing capabilities system. Also supports adherence to regulatory and company requirements and is responsible for supporting the operations to improve business performance.
Essential responsibilities:
· Provides technical expertise to interpret laboratory test results of raw ingredients and finished products.
· Establishing specimen preparation procedures; developing and implementing analytical procedures; evaluating laboratory information; consulting with third party labs; reporting results according to protocols mandated by the company standard operating procedures.
· Responsible for the day-to-day laboratory operations, managing the laboratory disciplines (ID, Micro, Analytical) and ensuring smooth operations.
· Ensures operational requirements by trending data and following up on work metrics.
· Manages laboratory staff by training, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
· Drafts and/or facilitates the development of standard operation procedures and performs or supervises efforts to perform regular audits to ensure compliance.
· Reviews/understands government regulations and facilities modifications and implementation of procedures as necessary.
· Responsible for constantly analyzing the laboratory systems and making recommendations for improvement.
· Generates and analyzes data to support the identification of key issues and assist in determining root cause and corrective action plans accordingly.
· Coordinates with quality and other company personnel to discuss and resolve issues as required.
· Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
· Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of quality metrics to provide status updates as well as identification of key problem areas.

Education Requirements:
· Degree in chemistry, biology, or relevant scientific field of study; with at least 2 years related quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
Competencies/skill Qualifications:
· PCR, HPTLC, FTIR/NIR, microscopy, microbiology, ELISA, GC MS, UPLC (PDA, MS, TQD), ICP MS, ICP OES, titration, UV-Vis.
· Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software required.
· Experience with statistical analysis such as design of experiments, process capability studies, gauge reliability and reparability. Capability in these disciplines must be previously demonstrated.
· Identify statistical techniques required for establishing, controlling and verifying process capability and product characteristics.
· Excellent written communication, interpersonal, organizational and project management skills required.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and consumers.
· Prior experience in food or chemical manufacturing environments a plus.
· English Proficiency required.
