Position Summary:
The University of Idaho Library and CollectionBuilder team seeks an innovative, flexible, and highly collaborative individual who will help promote, document, and teach the open source static web digital collections platform,
CollectionBuilder. This position will closely collaborate with CollectionBuilder team members to build community around the tool through the execution and administration of
their current IMLS National Leadership Grant for Libraries (NLG-L). As a valued team member, the Digital Scholarship Librarian will play a part in all aspects of the grant, demonstrating expertise and gaining experience in the areas of project management, metadata creation and transformation, web development, digital preservation, community building, and communications. The ideal candidate will have an excellent attention for detail, a capacity to learn new skills and technologies, and an interest in web development and digital collections, but need not be proficient in programming or systems. We are looking for someone who will take pride in CollectionBuilder and the style of development behind it, and who has the oral and written communication skills to express the importance of the tool to a variety of
GLAM and digital humanities communities.
This is a grant-funded non-tenure track faculty.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters degree from an ALA-accredited library program or the equivalent experience or educational attainment.
- Experience working with web-based tools and/or digital collections.
- Experience using analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communication methods.
- Work or educational experience that demonstrate an excellent attention to detail.
- Experience learning new technologies associated with digital scholarship, digital library, or web development/publishing activities.
- Experience working effectively, independently, and collaboratively in a collegial environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building community through effective communication strategies.
- Experience explaining and promoting digital products and services to people with varied levels of technical understanding.
- Experience with the use of metadata and metadata standards to describe digital collection materials.
- Experience writing and maintaining technical documentation and learning resources.
- Knowledge of and/or experience with markup (HTML), style sheet (CSS), and scripting (JavaScript) languages commonly used to develop websites.
- Demonstration of creativity or innovation in library or educational services.
