Performs routine cataloging processes. Additionally, Librarian Assistant assists with maintenance and update processes for library databases, software, and systems. May perform clerical tasks related to book purchasing and payments. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Librarian Assistant works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Position Summary
    The Instruction and Engagement Librarian is responsible for coordinating the library's user engagement and instruction program efforts. Working collaboratively, they develop, implement, and assess programming, activities, instruction, and projects designed to improve and enhance student success by engagement with librarians and library resources. This individual is a strong advocate for underserved student populations, seeking out and building relationships with student-centered units and programs across campus, broadening the library's presence and influence throughout the campus and community.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Working in a team-oriented environment, the Instruction and Engagement Librarian will:
    Engagement

    • Take the lead in identifying, cultivating, and developing outreach and engagement activities, making direct connections with students, faculty, and staff, and the community at large to promote and support collaborations and activities that will enhance success at all levels.
    • Work collaboratively to develop relationships with both internal and external communities.
    • Identify potential alliances and create, implement, and assess programming, activities, and projects designed to facilitate engagement beyond our campus borders that will promote new knowledge creation.
    • Communicate the library's services and resources through programs, activities, and social media.
    • Establish user-focused public programs and services, focusing on underserved populations, collaborating with GSSC staff and other campus and external organizations to publicize and promote the use of the library's collections.
    • Develop a marketing strategy and continually update knowledge and skills to reflect best practices in the field.
    • Coordinate the content and programming of the multimedia cube and digital art wall in the GSSC in collaboration with the Systems Librarian. This coordination may require contact with vendors and other campus groups such as IT.
    • Continually update the building's digital signage, in keeping with staffing changes and branding guidelines.

    Instruction
    • Update and continue improving instructional plan and approaches to best reach students and faculty.
    • Promote inclusive teaching practices and a commitment to accessibility in the development of classes and programs.
    • Engage with regional and national professional organizations and participate in ongoing professional development relevant to teaching and instruction.
    • Spearhead the efforts of integrating information literacy into the freshman year experience(FYEX) class.
    • Coordinate the scheduling and assessment of all information literacy instruction classes.
    • Develop/ modify instructional materials and assessments for library instruction, keeping current trends and best practices in mind.
    • Serve as a collection development liaison for assigned departments and collaborate with faculty to develop these areas of the print and digital collections.
    • Provide reference services and research/information literacy instruction as needed including occasional weekend and evening hours.
    • Serve on department and university committees and working groups.
    • Contribute to Golden Library initiatives that further ENMU's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

    Minimum Job Requirements:
    A master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program and a minimum of three years experience as a professional librarian (in the most recent five years) directly related to the duties specified is required.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Demonstrated teaching experience and training in information literacy instruction and/ or teaching experience at the college level.
    • Evidence of excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Evidence of problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Experience using the following products/technologies: Microsoft Office (Office 360), virtual/webex meeting technologies, LibApps/LibGuides/Springshare, Adobe software (photoshop, indesign, premiere, etc) and social media platforms for user engagement.
    • Experience creating web-based guides, videos and tutorials.
    • Ability to provide excellent reference and instruction services in all formats for students and faculty in an academic library.
    • Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable.
    • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
    • Ability to interpret and evaluate client informational needs and determine appropriate solutions.
    • Skill in identifying knowledge gaps and gaps in assessment and instruction.
    • Ability to adapt to unforeseen changes, not sacrificing the quality of service students receive.
    Working Conditions

    Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

    • Work is performed during normal work hours with some evening and weekend hours.
    • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
    • Work may require physical manipulation of technology in small spaces or the ability to delegate such tasks.
