    The Fresno State Library seeks an innovative, flexible, and public service-oriented individual to join our faculty in developing and providing user-focused library services that support teaching, research, and student success. This full-time, tenure-track librarian will serve as a generalist with a preference for a subject librarian for the departments in the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, including management of the Viticulture & Enology Library. The position will provide an excellent opportunity for professional growth and for those interested in collaborating to develop services to meet the needs of a diverse campus community.

    Primary responsibilities include: collaborating with colleagues in developing and providing a broad range of services and activities to designated departments; teaching information literacy concepts to undergraduates and graduate students; designing and creating outreach and instructional materials; providing in-person and online research assistance in a range of disciplines; participating in collection management; and promoting knowledge of scholarly communication, open access, and Fresno State's digital repository.

    Librarians are active participants in the shared governance of the library and in the academic life of the campus. The successful candidates will be members of the library faculty and will be expected to meet all of the requirements for retention, tenure, and promotion, including scholarship and service to the campus and the community. Tenure-track librarians receive an official probationary plan, mentoring, and professional development funding. Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

    Qualifications:

    Required Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.):

    An MLS from an ALA accredited library school/institution (or equivalent) is required by the time of appointment. The anticipated start date is Summer/Fall 2024.

    Required Experience:
    1. Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with instruction, information literacy, and student learning outcomes.
    2. Documentation of strong public service orientation and knowledge of or experience with reference service and research consultation.
    3. Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    4. Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with trends in librarianship and scholarly communication.

    Preferred Experience:
    1. Experience working in an academic library environment.
    2. Experience with and/or knowledge of design and delivery of instruction using a range of modalities, approaches, and technologies.
    3. Proficiency in multiple modes of reference service and research consultation.
    4. Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a complex, changing environment.
    5. Subject knowledge or experience in Animal Science, Plant Science, Food Science and Nutrition, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Education, Industrial Technology, and/or Viticulture & Enology
    6. Experience managing a specialized satellite library or collection.
    7. Experience with outreach programs and services.
    8. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
