Additionally, LIBRARIAN distributes up-to-date information on new acquisitions, library activities, and services. Electrical – Harness Librarian
Role Summary
The Harness Librarian will be responsible and accountable for ensuring proper registration and maintenance of components in the harness engineering library. In this position, you will be responsible for managing components within the context of wire harnesses, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with internal standards, through effective communication and validation among Tier 2 harness component suppliers.
Responsibilities
Register connectors, terminals, seals, plugs, and other components to the internal component library for wire harness drawings
Work closely with suppliers to obtain technical data and documentation for registered components
Act as harness component Subject Matter Expert (SME) to help device owners and wire harness DREs select approved and most cost-effective components
Support management to achieve BOM cost reduction targets and design optimizations
Evaluate new technologies and tools relevant to electrical systems integration, making recommendations for adoption and improvement
Follow internal component maintenance process to identify obsolescence, determine sourcing availability, and maintain updated component part numbers
Provide training and support to any new team members, introducing continuous learning and development within the team
Collaborate with Tier 1 harness supplier to assist in the resolution of component-related issues or discrepancies during the design, development, and production phases
Drive a culture of continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of electrical components
Qualifications
Strong understanding of wire harness manufacturing process and related components
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering disciplines
5 years of automotive or aerospace electrical design and release experience
A current, industry standard knowledge of design verification testing required for various electrical harness components
Effective communication ability with various engineering groups and external suppliers
Strong experience and proficiency with MentorGraphics Capital Suite
3D CAD experience with CATIA v5/v6
