Ames High School is seeking a Technology Teacher Librarian for the 2022-2023 school year.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Ames Community School District is to ensure that all learners develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and personal esteem necessary to grow in and shape a changing society.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides leadership in the library and technology programs.
- Provides training to building instructional staff in the integration of technology to support student achievement including planning and implementing job-embedded professional development and workshop for individuals, small groups, and large groups.
- Works with building leadership, technology coaches, and the Director of Technology to design, plan, and facilitate curriculum workshops for the integration of technology with an emphasis on 21st century technology tools.
- Provides training and support for school staff in different areas of technology.
- Collaborates with teachers to create and/or model integrated lesson plans with the intent of designing individual instructional modules, materials. and training aides.
- Promotes instructional practices that promote sound technology infusion.
- Troubleshoots and maintains building-level technology in conjunction with district-level and building-level personnel.
- Collaborates in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of instructional technology materials and software.
- Participates in ongoing professional development in technology tools and resources to inform decision making.
- Serves as a role model to use technology as a teaching tool to inform the public, school personnel, and students about educational programs and achievements.
- Manages the acquisition, processing, cataloging, organization, distribution, maintenance, and inventory of library/media center and technology resources.
- Promotes and coordinates school-wide utilization of library/media facilities and their associated resources and services.
- Provides instruction and assistance to students in conducting research.
- Creates a sense of belonging and a welcoming environment for all students and staff.
- Attends work on a consistent and punctual basis.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Iowa teaching license required.
- Teacher Librarian Endorsement required (5-12 or K-12 Teacher Librarian).
- Ability to pass a background check required.
The successful candidate will exhibit:
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
