Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Library Clerk. As a Library Clerk, you will play a vital role in providing excellent library services to our patrons. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a library environment and has a passion for helping others. This is a temporary, part-time position that could become permanent, part-time.
Essential Duties:
· Providing excellent customer service to patrons
· Assessing and making recommendations to the library director regarding spaces reserved for children and families.
· Maintaining all materials, collections, and equipment.
· Working to create an environment appealing to youth.
· Assisting with routine circulation desk procedures including checking in and out library borrowed material, answering the telephone, faxing, copying, and other computer based services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Knowledge of the principles of current library practice.
· Gain a broad knowledge of the library's on-line offerings.
· Proven proficiency in computer skills and the software programs neccessary to complete their tasks with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to stand for extended periods.
· Ability to frequently bend, twist, and stoop
· Ability to lift at least 30 pounds necessary to set up chairs, tables, and other equipment for programs and move boxes of materials
Qualifications
Significant experience in library science or education.
Ability to work cooperatively with the board of directors and staff of Donora Public Library.
Must have required clearances. (PA State Police Criminal History, PA Child Abuse History, and FBI Criminal History Clearance)
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $8.00 - $9.00 per hour
