Library Researcher carries out research activities in a library. Processes requests for research information and compiles information on related topics. Being a Library Researcher requires a bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Library Researcher relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.     General Expectations:

    • Properly supervise students at all times, if applicable to essential job functions.

    • Maintain courteous and professional relationships with students, parents/guardians, other district employees and the public.
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors, department staff, all members of the school district, and community as required.

    • Complies with privacy rights and safeguards confidential and/or sensitive information pertaining to staff and students.
    • Reacts to change productively and receive and transmit constructive criticism as it relates to job duties.
    • Actively participate in professional development and obtain skills and information necessary to effectively perform job duties.
    • Conduct all official business in a professional and timely manner, utilizing district technology resources.
    • Arrive to work and leave work at the time specified by supervisors and attend all required meetings pertinent to the position.
    • Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes as required by law and Board policy.
    • Solve practical problems utilizing math functions as needed to complete job duties.
    • Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.


    Essential Functions:

    • Help provide an atmosphere for both learning and enjoyment for all patrons and staff.
    • Preparing/securing circulation desks, storage area, main library, and all doors.
    • Maintain cooperative relations with students, teachers, and staff, and assist individuals and classes as needed to find library resources.
    • Maintain series master list and recommendations for additions to collection.
    • Process new books for shelving and old books for discard, cataloging, and protective covering on books.
    • Responsible for shelving all returned books and AV materials.
    • Perform data entry into various automated systems to check out, check in, and renew library materials.
    • Collect money for lost materials, make receipts, and enter fees into student records in the student information system.
    • Send emails to teachers weekly to remind them of scheduled day, time, and purpose of library visit. Edit Google calendar as needed.
    • Run monthly overdue and lost reports for students, teachers, and staff electronically or possibly manually.
    • General support to librarian as needed.
    • Carry out all other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
