Position Summary
The Family Support Services Coordinator will be responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing programming that supports families in various aspects of their lives. This role involves coordinating family support services and developing classes that uplift parents and caregivers. This role requires a solid commitment to reproductive justice principles, cultural competence, and collaboration with community partners.
Primary Duties
- Provide direct support and assistance to individuals and families accessing reproductive health services, including counseling, advocacy, and referrals.
- Conduct intake assessments to understand clients’ needs and preferences and develop personalized support plans accordingly
- Serve as a resource to connect clients with adequate resources and professional support.
- Offer emotional support through support groups conducted by professionals once a week.
- Conducts guidance to clients navigating reproductive health decisions and challenges by developing an organized booklet of resources for participants
- Supports Health Equity and Policy Coordinator by sharing policies and initiatives that promote reproductive justice and address systemic barriers to access and equity
- Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in reproductive health and justice to inform the RJ Program Manager and RJ team.
- Maintains confidentiality of individuals seen at TWU and through the RJ Program
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or a related field and/or a minimum of three (3) years experience in public health, social services, or classroom-based education programs required. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted as long as it directly relates to the essential duties and responsibilities
- 1 – 2 years of demonstrated experience in reproductive health, family support services, or related fields, with a strong understanding of reproductive justice principles.
- Knowledge of community resources and services related to reproductive health, family planning, and sexual health.
- Experience working in BIPOC communities, cultural sensitivity to the needs and distinct tribal and cultural ways of life, and willingness to complete cultural competency training and/or undoing racism training.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus (Tewa, Spanish, or other native languages)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse populations
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Additional Duties
- Updates and maintains weekly Google Calendar and productivity tools with program activities.
- Completes monthly evaluation snapshots to provide an overall reflection of the project activities, accomplishments, and challenges
- Provides project updates, data, and reports in collaboration with the RJ Program Manager and Grant & Compliance Director as needed
- Meets and participates in scheduled meetings with funders, evaluators, and other entities as necessary
- Attend and serve as a TWU representative at events and community meetings to build and maintain supportive relationships with key decision-makers, community members, and organizations, including local, municipal, state, national, and tribal entities and/or advocacy groups.
- Organize, document, and maintain records of all GJ activities carried every month
- Process and complete all timesheets, the necessary paperwork for expenses, and other finance requests (i.e invoices, credit card purchases, and reimbursements) on a biweekly basis
- Actively coordinate and collaborate on community engagement efforts, including strategy development and implementation, with GJ or other TWU staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested by TWU Executive Director, Associate Director, and/or RJ Program Manager.
Communications, Engagement, and Base Building
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, program activities, and outcomes, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and grant proposals to secure funding and communicate program impact to stakeholders.
- Assist in budget management and resource allocation for support services programs.

- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for program events and client support
Employment Screening and Compliance
- Employees must comply with drug and alcohol-free work environments.
- Employees may be required to complete a background check.
- The employee must maintain a current and valid driver’s license and insurance to perform duties, as the position requires activities involving motor vehicle travel.
Environment Work Conditions
- Most essential duties are performed in an office environment (in-person or virtual pending Covid restrictions) with exposure to various business equipment and other pertinent materials normally found in this work setting.
- Work is generally performed in an area permitting partial to total privacy.
- As a condition of employment, a person may work from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm except for events/training offered outside these hours.
- Work may occasionally require lifting of various materials and equipment over 20 pounds.
- Travel may be required.
