    This part-time position is responsible for serving children and teens, and their families, in an urban,

    community-centered library. The librarian assuming this position will be responsible for planning and

    implementing outreach programs with local schools, developing and leading library programs for pre-

    school and elementary students, and managing the Youth Services team. The librarian may also provide

    reference and readers’ advisory services when needed.

    This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as Library Science or Education), with
    at least one year’s relevant experience preferable. Knowledge of children’s and young adult literature,
    knowledge of child development, and experience planning and presenting programs is needed.

    Experience making lesson plans to PA education standards is preferred. Experience with Canva and

    LibCal is a plus. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, organization

    skills, and leadership ability. Enthusiasm, flexibility, energy, and a genuine enjoyment of working with

    library customers of all ages and diverse backgrounds are a plus. This position may include daytime,

    evening, and weekend days, but can be flexible to applicants' needs.

    Required physical abilities: to operate a keyboard; to kneel, bend, reach, stoop; to stand and walk for

    most of the day; to repeatedly lift, move, handle, and shift library materials weighing up to 25 pounds

    and push carts of up to 50 pounds. Reliable transportation is required as this position will be expected to

    perform outreach at local schools.

    All library positions require the following criminal background and child abuse clearances: Report of

    criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP); Child Abuse History Clearance from the

    Department of Human Services (Child Abuse); and Fingerprint based federal criminal history submitted

    through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI).

    Position Type: Part-Time

    Salary Information: $15.00 per hour
