    The Director of Library Human Resources acts as principal consultant to the University Librarian and Associate University Librarian for Administrative Services, and regularly advises all levels of management within the Libraries concerning academic and staff personnel issues and strategic organizational development projects. The position serves as consultant to leadership on strategic decision-making, including recruitment/retention, organizational effectiveness, employee wellness and engagement, employee development and performance management, employee/labor relations, leadership development, and change management. This position is responsible for providing input and guidance in the organizational strategic planning process for academic and staff personnel and payroll and benefits administration. The position provides oversight and guidance for the academic review process for librarians and leads onboarding/new employee orientation efforts. Additionally, the position is responsible for advancing the Libraries’ diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals through strategic HR policies and practices. Manages Human Resources and Academic Personnel staff primarily responsible for administering personnel policies, programs, and procedures in the areas of recruitment and retention, training and organizational development, payroll and benefits, employee and labor relations, and performance management, and regulatory compliance. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use HR and AP resources to meet schedules and goals. Reviews and approves recommendations for HR and AP programs. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. The Director of Library Human Resources builds strong partnerships and collaborates and coordinates with library managers and Campus HR to ensure delivery of high-quality HR and AP services that in alignment with the Libraries strategic goals. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.

    $7,241.67 - $11,350.00/month

    Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in related area with 7-9 or more years of experience in personnel administration and/or equivalent combination of experience/training. • Master’s degree in related area preferred.

    Advanced knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures including employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources as well as organizational initiatives relating to and / or affecting human resources. Demonstrated ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively. Ability to provide high quality work utilizing highly developed and effective communication (written and verbal), project management, time management, and collaboration skills. Highly self-motivated and directed with excellent organization, management, and project management skills. Ability to prioritize, streamline and accomplish assigned projects. Excellent people skills, with ability to effectively interact, collaborate, and influence across all levels of an organization. Ability to provide excellent service with integrity. Ability to effectively and appropriately handle confidential matters and material. Strong analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated skill to define and delegate work, set standards, motivate staff and enhance departmental services.
    Preferred:
    Advanced knowledge of the University of California HR and AP concepts, labor relations, salary administration, training, and other areas of human resources. Advanced knowledge of human resources management systems such as UCPath, Fast Class 3, AP Recruit, AP Review, Cognos Report system, etc.. Knowledge of UCI campus departments and central administrative offices, their services, roles and responsibilities, for consultation as appropriate. Demonstrated experience working with academic personnel appointment, review, and promotion policies and procedures on a UC campus. Experience working with staff and academic personnel in a library organization
