Essential Roles
· Supervises Circulation Department, Computer Services Librarian, Custodian, and Courier
· Collaborates with Programming Librarian, Videographer, Digital Librarian, Library Administration and others on special projects
· Provides informational and recreational public library services to a diverse customer base by offering reference assistance, grants guidance, genealogy research, readers’ advisory services, collection development, computer-area supervision, technology instruction, community outreach, high-interest displays and marketing, some adult programming, and other similar duties as required.
· Specializes in Adult and Teen Collection Development at the headquarters library
· Organizes popular-culture programming such as book clubs, poetry slams, bingo, yoga, crafts, musical instrument classes, calligraphy, quilting, indigo dyeing, and so forth
· Coordinates art exhibits by local artists
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Possesses knowledge of current technology, including production software (like the Microsoft Office Suite), online tools, and mobile devices
· Shows the ability to maintain and to expand such technological skills
· Utilizes an excellent command of written and spoken English along with public-relations software like Canva to disseminate information about popular-culture programming
· Has a track record of exhibiting an energetic, active, and outgoing nature in working with a diverse public, including in an instructional role
· Employs standard office equipment to do research, compile statistics, and create reports
· Is able to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects weighing approximately up to twenty-five pounds
Credentials
· Has an accredited Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies or an equivalent level of education and experience
· Possesses a valid South Carolina Driver’s License
