Library Services Director supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a library. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Library Services Director selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Additionally, Library Services Director typically reports to top management. The Library Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Position Overview: Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Multi-Media Specialist will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional services to our patrons of all ages. Under the direction of the Circulation Assistant Supervisor, Librarians and Library Management, the Circulation and this position performs a wide variety of circulation and patron support services that include but is not limited to:
- Processing return books from patrons;
- Processing books being checked out for patrons;
- Processing delivery of books returned from other libraries;
- Sorting returned books by genre;
- Assisting patrons with the use of computers, access to the internet and printing, faxing, scanning and shredding, and an array of audio/visual equipment;
- Assists patrons with questions;
- Provides information on upcoming activities, events, and programs offered by OVL.
- Tracking patron usage as required
Schedule: 20-30 hours per week
Days: Must be available regularly, year-round, on Friday, Saturday, and 4 hours on Sunday
