As a Library Page, you will work flexible hours in a fast-paced and beautiful library, joining staff who are passionate about providing excellent service. Part-time (14-19 hours per week).  Schedule includes days, evenings, and weekends.

A SHELVING TEST IS REQUIRED AND WILL BE GIVEN AT THE TIME OF INTERVIEW.

This unique assignment will include scheduled shifts working in the library and/or the Library Cafe. Performs a variety of tasks related to the circulation and shelving of library materials. Independently provides timely and friendly cafe service to library customers.

Distinguishing Features of the Class

Under the supervision of the Page Supervisors, shelves all library materials and maintains the collection in order on the shelves, and pulls requests to fill patron holds. Under the direction of the Café Operator prepares and serves café drinks and food.

• Sorts and shelves library materials following established priorities
• Straightens library materials on shelves
• Merchandises books and other library materials to enhance their appeal and promote their use by browsers
• Maintains materials in correct alphabetical and Dewey order 
• Empties book bins
• Answers the telephone
• Moves materials within the building
• Prepare and serve drinks and food in accordance with health code and café standards
• Maintain a clean and organized work space
• Participate in departmental and library-wide training and activities, including technology training 

• Ability to work with library customers and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Ability to alphabetize and learn the Dewey classification arrangement
• Ability to maintain reliable attendance and regular work schedule
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work independently
• Ability to work cooperatively with others as a team
• Good vision and hearing
• Manual dexterity to operate computer and phone equipment
• Capable of using a computer and accurately managing sales transactions
• Physical ability to handle and lift library materials weighing approximately 40 pounds
• Ability to push fully loaded carts of library materials
• Two professional references
• Satisfactory pre-employment background check

• High school diploma or GED
• Customer Service experience preferred 
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
