Life Underwriting Director jobs in Dover, NH
Life Underwriting Director directs and oversees the life insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Life Underwriting Director provides coaching to underwriters and assists on more complex applications. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Additionally, Life Underwriting Director typically requires Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification or Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation. Typically reports to top management. The Life Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Life Underwriting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves so that you can learn, grow, and thrive during your tenure at the Y. This position is responsible for overseeing and developing all camp staff to ensure a positive and engaging camp program and an effective and collaborative staff team. Responsibilities: Acts as a collaborative member of the camp leadership team Supports pre-camp training Supervises, coaches, mentors, evaluates and provides feedback to members of the day camp staff team Supports and guides other camp staff in their development and engagement with their coworkers Implements team engagement and recognition initiatives Schedules staff and ensures appropriate coverage for all program areas Recommends and supports any staff performance improvement plans to the Camp Director Supports the planning, implementation, and facilitation of staff training and meetings, both pre-camp and ongoing Continually model and teach character development and Y core value qualities Provide direction and guidance for staff in the day-to-day camp operations Frequently participate with campers and staff in activities Qualifications: 3-5 years experience working with youth and supporting staff preferred Completed High School or equivalent; some college credits or certifications in a related field preferred Minimum of 2 years experience managing teams Possess strong organizational and group management skills Proficient use of Word, Excel, and Outlook and general computer and tablet functions Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible, and positive attitude to work Must be available to attend camp training before and throughout the camp season Position Specifics: Camp season runs 6/01/2024 through 8/24/2024 and must be able to work most of the camp weeks Pay range $16 - $17hr depending upon experience Year-round employment opportunities are available with the YMCA.
