Life Underwriting Director directs and oversees the life insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Life Underwriting Director provides coaching to underwriters and assists on more complex applications. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Additionally, Life Underwriting Director typically requires Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification or Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation. Typically reports to top management. The Life Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Essential Functions:
· Perform acts of advanced assessment, diagnosis, prescription, selection and administration of therapeutic measures and treatment regimes
· Consult, plan and implement collaborative management, referrals, or transfer of care as appropriate
· Practice within standards consistent with those established by the New Hampshire State Board for his/her license
· Recognize limits of knowledge and experience and plan for the management of situations beyond own expertise
· Maintain up to date and timely records and documentation
· Allocate sufficient time as is reasonably necessary for effective patient care
· Maintain confidentiality as it applies to all state, federal and company guidelines
· Has a high level of professional and ethical standards
Experience in substance use disorder preferred, but not required.
Candidate must be licensed, or able to obtain a license, in the State of NH. Must be able to meet credentialing requirements.
