Marketing Communication Manager manages the implementation of the marketing communications strategy and programs, including advertising, branding, product promotion, and regulatory matters. Designs, develops, and distributes consistent themes, messaging, and branding throughout all communication touch points. Being a Marketing Communication Manager understands products, customers, and industry and develops focused communications in collaboration with organizational stakeholders across functions. Oversees efficient processes for the regulatory review and approval of communication materials. Additionally, Marketing Communication Manager explores and adopts new channels, methods, and platforms to optimize marketing communications. May oversee the planning and execution of trade shows and conferences to showcase products and amplify messaging. Develops the internal and external resources required for communication program delivery. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Marketing Communication Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Marketing Communication Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Sr. Director of Marketing & Communication leads the NTFB’s efforts to raise awareness of the mission through brand management, enhanced exposure, media relations, signature events and general storytelling.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communication or related creative discipline 

    Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills for effective communications
    • Media outreach and relationship-building skills
    • Project Management expertise
    • Strategic planning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Proven leadership, collaboration and delegation skills
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe, WordPress and Blackbaud Products
    • Fluency in Spanish preferred

    Experience: 

    • Seven years within public relations, marketing, communication or journalism 
    • Five years managing, motivating, and training teams and vendor management

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop cross-channel strategic and tactical marketing and communication plans that support NTFB objectives. This includes oversight of the NTFB website, blog, social media channels, digital signage, printed material, message maps and more
    • Manage proactive and reactive media outreach that increases media exposure and brand awareness, inclusive of managing a portfolio of strategic media relationships
    • Curate brand engagement opportunities through signature events, community events and cause-marketing campaigns, meeting annual fundraising targets
    • Serve as executive producer for internal and external video efforts
    • Develop and maintain effective measurements, dashboards and reporting for marketing and communications activities and brand sentiment
    • Collaborate with and support cross-functional teams with the development of required communication tools such as collateral, website support, graphic design, scripting and event support
    • Evolve and grow NTFB’s story gathering efforts, speaker’s bureau and social ambassador programs to expand reach
    • Manage the NTFB’s Crisis Communication Plan
    • Serve as a primary NTFB spokesperson
    • Lead, mentor, and develop staff to ensure continuous learning and growth as well as cross-collaboration with departments
    • Promote a positive work environment where staff feels engaged, valued, and motivated
    • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead a team of approximately ten people with three direct reports

    MENTAL DEMANDS:

    • The person in this position needs to adapt well in the face of workplace stressors, such as customer service complaints, compliance offenses, and competing priorities of reasonable or high significance to the successful function of the unit. 
    • Must be able to effectively interpret data and make critical decisions that will have a significant impact on the team and organization.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk or hear. 
    • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. 

    ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

    • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with open floor plan with computers, phone, printers, and light traffic)
    • Ability and willingness to participate in events outside the traditional workday schedule on occasional evenings and weekends
