    About the Role:

    The Coordinator of Marketing and Communication holds a pivotal role within the College of Engineering and Lamar University. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this position is instrumental in advancing the recruitment and branding efforts of the College. The Coordinator is responsible for developing, maintaining, and evaluating the annual recruitment plan, with a particular focus on attracting top-tier undergraduate students to the COE. This role also involves nurturing and managing essential partnerships with community-based organizations, high schools, technical centers, 2-year colleges, and businesses to expand the reach of engineering programs. The Coordinator actively engages with various community stakeholders to create activities and programs designed to prepare students for successful college enrollment. The position also plays a vital role in organizing off-campus recruitment visits and events to attract prospective students to LU and the COE. In addition to these external outreach efforts, the coordinator offers essential student support by professionally corresponding with prospective students, providing guidance on pre-college preparation requirements, and assisting with the application process. Collaboration with the Lamar University Marketing Team is essential to execute impactful marketing campaigns that elevate the visibility and appeal of the COE. The Coordinator is responsible for designing, ordering, and distributing marketing materials, maintaining an inventory of branded items for special events, and creating newsletters to keep students and stakeholders informed about engineering developments. The role also includes the management and maintenance of COE webpages, maximizing the use of social media for student and industry spotlights, and fostering a consistent brand image across all materials. Overall, this position plays a critical role in driving recruitment, marketing, and branding initiatives to support the success and growth of the College of Engineering at Lamar University. The Coordinator of Marketing and Communications is a dynamic and influential position that shapes the future of engineering education at Lamar University, attracting and retaining top talent in engineering programs and promoting a strong brand presence for the COE.

    What You’ll Do – Position Duties
    • Establish and nurture recruitment partnerships with community-based organizations, high schools, technical centers, 2-year colleges, and businesses to expand COE outreach, collaborating with various stakeholders for the design of activities and programs preparing students for enrollment at Lamar University’s College of Engineering (LUCOE). Additionally, organize and promote off-campus recruitment visits and events in collaboration with admissions to attract top-tier undergraduate students to LU and COE.
      • a. Cultivate and manage recruitment partnerships with community-based organizations, high schools, technical centers, 2-year colleges, and businesses to expand the reach of the COE, collaborating directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other stakeholders to design activities and programs that prepare students for college enrollment at Lamar University’s College of Engineering (LUCOE).
      • b. Organize, schedule, and promote off-campus recruitment visits and events to attract prospective students to Lamar University (LU) and the College of Engineering (COE), collaborating with admissions to attract and admit top-tier undergraduate students to our engineering programs.
    • Enhance COE’s online presence by managing social media platforms, featuring student, industry, and faculty highlights, covering current events, and showcasing student activities. Additionally, ensure the regular maintenance and updates of COE webpages in alignment with Lamar University Standards. Oversee the creation and distribution of newsletters, both internal and external, to inform students and stakeholders about engineering developments, initiatives, and achievements. Manage the design, ordering, and distribution of marketing publications (digital and hard copies) in accordance with Lamar University Marketing Standards, including the development of an inventory plan for COE swag items to maintain a consistent and recognizable brand presence at special events and for visitors.
      • a. Maximize the use of the COE’s social media presence by featuring student, industry, and faculty spotlights, covering current events, and showcasing student activities to engage and inform the audience.
      • b. Maintenance and continuous update the COE webpages in alignment with Lamar University Standards, ensuring all online content remains current and appealing.
      • c. Oversee the creation and dissemination of both internal and external newsletters to inform students and stakeholders about engineering developments, initiatives, and achievements.
      • d. Design, order, and distribution of all marketing publications, including digital and hard copies, in accordance with Lamar University Marketing Standards, ensuring the creation of high-quality materials, and develop an inventory plan to maintain a stock of COE swag items for special events and visitors, guaranteeing a consistent and recognizable brand presence.
    • Provide professional correspondence to prospective students, offering advice, resources, and referrals to campus services for seamless college application and enrollment processes. Additionally, assist prospective students and their families with essential pre-college requirements, such as the GoApplyTexas Application, Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA), and other required documentation.

Take charge of all COE branding efforts, ensuring a cohesive and robust brand image across all marketing materials and communications. Collaborate with the Lamar University Marketing Team to initiate and execute marketing campaigns, enhancing the visibility and desirability of engineering programs.

    Physical Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications
    • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Engineering, High Education, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. In lieu of degree, 4-5 years of equivalent work experience.
