Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. May assist in inventory of stock and stock rotation. Enters information into a computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records, retrieve stored data, or respond to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Materials Handling Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. - The Warehouse Supervisor will assist the Operations Manager in the attainment of all warehouse goals; including processing all inbound and outbound orders and finished goods (trucks), production goals, inventory accuracy, number of units, cost per unit and standards of quality; through the leadership and training of the warehouse workforce according to standards of good warehouse practices. The Warehouse Supervisor should be able to perform all tasks in the work area to be able to fill in when a team member is absent. The shift will be 8:00am until 5:00 pm with some overtime possible before or after the shift. This position will be located onsite at our Distribution Center located in Louisville, KY and is not eligible for remote work. Essential Functions: Provide directions and support to all operation personnel in the attainment of key business indicators, including, but not limited to: Coordinate documentation to physical product to ensure timely, damage-free, and accurate outbound shipments Plan and manage manpower including training employees in proper work procedures & responsibilities, provide support and guidance to subordinate personnel to develop their skills. Review daily schedules and in discussion with other operation team members, plans and prioritizes daily work schedules. Alerts warehouse team members to any special projects, special packaging requirements, and special deliveries. Responsible for overseeing various operational projects. Understand, support and communicate quality goals. Identify and correct quality issues that negatively affect warehouse efficiency and customer satisfaction. Ensures inventory accuracy in the warehouse Spot checks inbound material to ensure correct receipts, proper packaging, and put away accuracy. Responsible for meeting all Safety and OSHA requirements & regulations. Lead operation team members in conducting daily required OSHA safety check of forklifts. Monitor and order certain identified supplies Support and help to enforce all company policies; including, safety, housekeeping, environmental, financial, reporting and discipline. Ensure the shipment of a quality product at minimal cost. Additional Functions: Attend scheduled training classes Participate as a team member in work, meetings and other functions such as transferring information to others, improving working relationships with co-workers, contributing to team success. Support Company policies and demonstrate concern for the success of the business. Show effective concern for the quality of all output and the needs, concerns and priorities of all customers, both internal and external. Basic computer skills, with the ability to do data entry, run reports, use warehouse management system. Minimum Qualifications: High school education or equivalent. 1 to 3 years’ experience in a leadership position Ability to perform basic warehouse functions Working knowledge and use of computers and warehouse management systems. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees • Ability to resolve employee conflicts and foster good working relationships.
