Materials Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates the work of employees who load and unload material within a warehouse or storage facility. Processes orders from requisitions and dispenses items from stock. Being a Materials Handling Supervisor oversees the utilization of hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Additionally, Materials Handling Supervisor ensures procedures are according to specifications and that resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Materials Supervisor to join our team. The Materials Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the production planning, procurement, and order fulfillment processes, under general supervision, manages the daily operations of a warehouse which may include, but are not limited to, shipping and receiving, inventory control, and preparation of kits and work orders for manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience in data mining, and retail management, and possess strong analytical skills. This is a full-time position with opportunities for career growth.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervises personnel, which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
2. Provides products to customers in an efficient and timely manner; arranges for packaging, transportation, and/or delivery of goods.
3. Maintains space, equipment, and supplies; manages inventory, transfers, and product rotation.
4. Prepares and maintains work order kits, Kanban bins, and other inventory distribution methods deemed appropriate to support production demand and consistence production flow.
5. Works with other departments in planning and preparing forecasted and actual demand.
6. Develop and implement improved methods of materials handling, stock control, and packaging to promote efficiency, services, and reduced costs.
7. Conduct periodic or special inventory audits and reconcile physical counts. This includes cycle counts and physical inventory counts as prescribed by company policy.
8. Prepares bid requests for a variety of services and/or supplies; monitors contracts on an ongoing basis for compliance.
9. Develop recordkeeping procedures and manage appropriate department records by applicable regulations, policies, and standards.
10. As appropriate to the position, participates in the development of operating goals and objectives for the unit; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations.
11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
· Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
· Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, or Windows-based operating environment. MS Word, Excel, and e-mail systems at a minimum.
· Knowledge of warehousing methodology.
· Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
· Knowledge of inventory management practices.
· Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
· Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
· Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
