Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Job Description: Microchip has an opportunity for a Supervisor-Materials to join the Material Control team at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. Job Purpose Manage manufacturing stores 24/7 operation, stocking (parts, consumables, materials), shipping and receiving functions. Supervise area employees (8 or more direct reports). Provide outstanding support to customers, primarily manufacturing group users of stores materials. Drive continuous improvement in area and support for manufacturing organizational objectives. Essential Functions Determine optimal inventory stocking levels (SS, ROP, Max) through analysis of usage, lead times, EOQ, discounts, shelf life, etc. for all spare parts, materials and supplies. Create ad-hoc reports and queries using MS Access and Excel to identify cost savings opportunities and to provide customers with materials data. Drive continuous improvement to improve department productivity, reduce manufacturing costs, reduce excess and obsolete inventory. Create and/or modify processes, documentation, work instructions and training to support continuous improvement. Ensure accuracy and quality system compliance of all stores, shipping and receiving transactions. Develop and maintain an effective organization for area of responsibility by building a productive, engaged team, establishing performance standards, addressing issues real-time, measuring and monitoring employee performance, communicating effectively and coaching and developing employee skills. Perform investigations on receiving, stocking or quality issues and errors to determine root cause. Communicate and implement solutions to minimize these errors. Requirements/Qualifications: Required Qualifications 5 years Inventory Control experience and 3 years supervisory experience. Experience with analytical inventory control methods. Experience working with MS Access/Excel with the ability to create queries to extract data, compile results, and report to internal customers. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Builds effective working relationships with suppliers and organizational peers. Ability to solve problems and improve systems, including obtaining buy-in from others and managing change. Ability to build productive, engaged teams. Ability to identify, assign, measure and monitor employee performance Ability to coach and develop skills in others. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Management or Business Management preferred. Experience with Baan. Critical Physical Requirements Able to regularly push, pull, or team-lift 100 lbs; Safely use material handling equipment to transfer, position, load and unload object of 100 lbs or greater; individually lift, carry 55 lbs; sit 40%; stand 30%; walk 30%; must be able to perform activities that include stooping, reaching, handling, hearing, talking, seeing, work alone, work around others. Special Requirements Position requires ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack. This is considered a Safety Sensitive position. This position is not eligible for Microchip immigration sponsorship.
