Position Summary (onsite Duncan, SC)

This is a new position for an experienced Buyer who is responsible for planning, selecting, and buying components and goods for outsourced manufacturing of our products. The buyer will use our ERP system and other tools to track and monitor all materials from origin to delivery. The buyer will collaborate extensively with engineering and sales and will develop and maintain supplier relationships to provide optimal service throughout the supply chain.

Quotes, Purchases and expedites material to ensure that materials are forwarded on specified shipping dates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Places orders for parts, fabrications, burn parts, accessory equipment, materials, supplies, castings, forgings, drive components and service.
• Maintains proper Current Unit Cost and lead times for purchased items within JD Edwards.
• Interfaces with Production Control, and the Parts Sales Department, to coordinate purchased items with production schedules and customer requirements.
• Maintains contact with vendors to ensure proper documentation of company shipments.
• Expedites deliveries and assures quality from vendors to maximize purchase value and timely schedules.
• Maintains a positive purchase price variance against standard cost.
• Demonstrates proficiency with the current operating system and all modules pertaining to the correct and timely processing of work functions.
• Evaluates current vendor performance in addition to searching for other qualified sources.
• Resolves issues with vendors concerning quantity and quality. Reviews non-conformance reports with Quality Assurance/Engineering and Vendor.
• Enforces quality standards in conjunction with Quality Assurance Engineer.
• Assists other department personnel as required, maintaining knowledge of these responsibilities to ensure coverage as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience

A minimum of 5-7 years in buying and supply chain operations required. preferably involving some outside contract manufacturing.
