Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision. This position is responsible for aiding physicians with patient care, environmental and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the care center services and also conveys a positive and professional image of the Care Center.
Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies. Perform other duties/tasks as requested by providers, coordinators, and management in accordance with office procedures/policies. Compensation is based on experience.
