What You’ll Do / A Day In the Life Typically Includes
This position is in the office (Momence, IL or Commerce, GA).
As a Cataloging Librarian assistant, you will be responsible for entering base marc record elements by transcribing data from physical or electronic Spanish language materials into Baker & Taylor’s proprietary software.
You will provide support to the Corporate Cataloging team by managing reports, scanning materials for original cataloging and ordering materials for the team to catalog.
All training for the role is done internally.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Transcription of Spanish language materials into BTCAT.
Entering required data elements necessary for creating a marc record.
Ordering materials for cataloging department to maintain a steady workflow.
List management, pre-cataloging work to support the overall productivity of the team.
Download marc files from FTP site and load into BTCAT.
Maintain production metrics.
Other duties as assigned by Management.
Work Environment : The noise level in the building is usually moderate.
Required Skills & Experience
Native Spanish fluency OR 3 years of undergraduate Spanish language instruction required. Please provide unofficial transcripts demonstrating such coursework.
Results of a formal Spanish language proficiency exam (e.g., DELE, ACTFL, SIELE or other proficiency exam administered by an accredited academic institution) demonstrating a minimum level of Advanced or equivalent in reading and writing are strongly preferred.
Copy Cataloging experience preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to read and interpret documents.
Strong PC skills; well versed in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Strong writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly sits, uses hands and fingers, and lifts / moves up to 10 lbs.
Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Pay Range : $38,355 $41,861
