Medical Librarian (MLS) provides guidance and assistance to users researching medical information using database searches, inter-library loans, and other resources. Ensures the cataloging and circulation of materials are performed efficiently and correctly according to policies and standards. Being a Medical Librarian (MLS) creates training materials and delivers library instruction and education programs for physicians and other staff. Leads or contributes ideas for library strategic planning, quality initiatives, and the development of digital media and educational resources. Additionally, Medical Librarian (MLS) maintains current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Librarian (MLS) occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • Position Summary

    The Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technician or Scientist (CLT/MLT/MLS) position collects, processes, and performs clinical laboratory testing on specimens from neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.  Is responsible for quality assurance and instrument maintenance. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collects blood specimens and evaluates the acceptability of both blood and non-blood specimens for laboratory testing. 
    • Accessions and processes specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.
    • Performs routine and high complexity laboratory tests within all areas of the laboratory.
    • Reports patient test results according to established laboratory policies.
    • Performs regular Quality Control and Quality Assurance assessments according to established laboratory practices.
    • Performs instrument preventative maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
    • Performs clerical functions associated with each laboratory area.

    Selection Criteria:

    • Graduate of an accredited 2 year MLT program, or a 4-year Laboratory science program – MLS, MT, or CLS 
    • MLT/MLS/MT ASCP certified or eligible (must obtain within 6 months of hire date)
    • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification (or obtained within six months of hire, company paid)
    • Working knowledge of clinical blood banking, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and microbiology is preferred

    Scope:

    • 80hrs/2wks
    • Shift is primarily 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM, but can vary with start and end times between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM, depending on department needs
    • Eligible for shift differential pay
    • Every third weekend
