The Position

Librarians are typically assigned to the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records (NSLAPR) Division and perform a broad range of professional level duties in support of a library that organizes and provides access to a wide selection of materials in a variety of formats. Incumbents perform administrative work in planning, coordinating and directing activities within one or more functional areas of the library including, but not limited to, acquisitions; cataloging; reference; circulation; collection maintenance; serials; document delivery/interlibrary loan; government documents; library services for the blind and physically disabled; and/or statewide library development.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

The Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records (NSLAPR) division is recruiting for an Access Services Librarian, classified as a Librarian IV. The person in this position reports to the Deputy Administrator of Library Services. The incumbent's responsibilities include managing a team of three; evaluating and improving processes designed to provide access to State Library resources; reporting on how State Library resources are used and employing that data to inform collection development decisions; developing and administering the State Data Center; and promoting State Library resources through outreach activities, reference services, and developing relationships with related institutions throughout the state.
