Medical Librarian (MLS) jobs in Plainfield, NJ

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic part-time Teacher Librarian to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a love for reading and learning among students, supporting teachers in integrating literacy skills into their curriculum, empowering students to become critical thinkers, skillful researchers and ethical users of information, and maintaining a vibrant and organized library space.

Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Integration: Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and literacy skills into the curriculum, supporting diverse learning needs and subject areas.
• Instructional Support: Provide guidance and instruction to students and staff on information literacy skills, research methods, and effective use of library resources.
• Reader's Advisor: Offer recommendations and assistance to students and staff in selecting books and resources that match their interests and reading levels.
• Library Management: Maintain an organized and welcoming library space, including cataloging, shelving, and managing circulation of materials.
• Technology Integration: Stay updated on emerging technologies and digital resources relevant to education and library services and incorporate them into library programs and services.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to support the overall goals and mission of the school, contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills related to library, education, and technology integration.

Qualifications:

• ALA-accredited degree or equivalent school library or education degree.
• Experience teaching in the elementary and middle school levels is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of library and information literacy principles, practices, and technologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
• Passion for promoting literacy and lifelong learning.
• Commitment to model and encourage a growth mindset in all learning.
• Ability to adapt to changing educational technologies and trends.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail for managing library collections and resources effectively.
