Ensures the cataloging and circulation of materials are performed efficiently and correctly according to policies and standards. Being a Medical Librarian (MLS) creates training materials and delivers library instruction and education programs for physicians and other staff. Leads or contributes ideas for library strategic planning, quality initiatives, and the development of digital media and educational resources. Additionally, Medical Librarian (MLS) maintains current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Librarian (MLS) occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. - Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the Thomaston Public Schools.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level and specific subjects, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.

- PA State Certification Library certification
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Successful prior experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

The Pottsgrove School District is currently seeking applicants for an Elementary Librarian. This is a contracted position available for the 2023-2024 school year. Pottsgrove teachers develop curriculum and lesson plans, and present those lessons to their students, individually or in groups. Teaching position involves direct instruction, co-teaching, case management, and collaboration. The successful candidate must possess clear communication skills, effective instructional talents, and establish relationships with students, colleagues and families. They track the progress of their students and create reports to inform parents about their progress. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe and respectful classroom environment in order to optimize student capabilities and develop their love of learning. This position will be part of the close-knit community of Pottsgrove staff who positively impact the lives of students each day.

SALARY: Placement on the PGEA Salary Schedule based on experience and education. This is a contract position.
