Medical Librarian (MLS) jobs in Waterloo, IA
Medical Librarian (MLS) provides guidance and assistance to users researching medical information using database searches, inter-library loans, and other resources. Ensures the cataloging and circulation of materials are performed efficiently and correctly according to policies and standards. Being a Medical Librarian (MLS) creates training materials and delivers library instruction and education programs for physicians and other staff. Leads or contributes ideas for library strategic planning, quality initiatives, and the development of digital media and educational resources. Additionally, Medical Librarian (MLS) maintains current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Librarian (MLS) occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Medical Laboratory Scientist) coordinates and participates in a variety of complex technical tasks in the performance of laboratory tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This is a generalist position, which includes microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, hematology, coagulations, and phlebotomy.

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Science, chemical biological or related degree is required.

Board certification (ASCP, NCA, AMT) as a MLS, MT, CLS, or MLT is required.

Basic Life Support certification required.

In addition to meeting the educational and/or license requirement(s) associated with this position, must be able to provide documentation (copy of transcript or diploma) to verify completion of education. At a minimum, documentation provided must be for the applicable college diploma(s) and board certifications.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated competence in the area of laboratory procedures required.

A minimum of 6 months clinical laboratory experience is preferred.

Significant skill and knowledge in Laboratory Information System (LIS) applications / automated technology is desired.
