Medical Staff Credentialing Manager manages staff that process credentialing and recredentialing applications for health care providers. Oversees department operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Manager implements policies and procedures to ensure that applications are properly verified and accurately uploaded into an online credentialing database system. Analyzes reports on applications and credentialing status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Manager prepares files for the credentialing committee and may act as a liaison to state medical licensure boards regarding the status of license applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a director. The Medical Staff Credentialing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We are looking for a Credentialing and Billing specialist who will both coordinate with their team members and operate independently to ensure successful client outcomes.  

    What does the Credentialing and Billing Specialist role involve? 

    Our practice is passionate about mental health, and we are excited to grow our administrative support staff team. The Credentialing and Billing Specialist role encompasses a broad array of tasks and goals to prioritize excellent care for all patients of iTrust Wellness. 

    • Completing the credentialing process with insurance companies for healthcare providers
    • Communicating with existing patients through phone calls, texts, and emails
    • Connecting with existing patients to answer billing questions and concerns
    • Ensuring all patient accounts stay up to date and claims are properly processed
    • Providing training and support to the billing team and providers

    What are key characteristics of the Credentialing and Billing Specialist role? 

    • Complete the credentialing process for healthcare providers with insurance companies
    • Maintain accurate records of provider credentials, certifications, and fee schedules
    • Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve credentialing issues
    • Monitor and track the status of credentialing applications
    • Collaborate with billing and coding team to ensure accurate reimbursement
    • Maintain accurate records of credentialing activities and documentation
    • Monitor expiration dates and proactively initiate recertification applications
    • Answering phone calls professionally and kindly 
    • Responding to text messages promptly and professionally 
    • Placing billing calls to collect payments and other patient information as applicable
    • Gaining proficiency with the EMR system to improve patient experience 
    • Generating daily billing reports
    • Maintaining proper billing procedures
    • Scanning EOBs into the system
    • Providing training and support to the billing team and providers
    • Handle inquiries and disputes related to billing and payments with RCM services
    • Collaborate with internal teams to address recurring problems and improve processes
    • Collaborate with the Clinical Director to clarify provider procedures that affect billing efficiency
    • Identify any new procedures or services that need to be added to the fee schedule
    • Research and stay updated on changes to CPT codes and billing regulations
    • Providing coding and billing support during audits or compliance reviews
    • Monitor the progress of credentialing applications to facilitate care coordination and ensure effective communication across the entire team
    • Performing administrative duties as applicable
    • Writing emails, letters, and more in a clear and concise manner 
    • Interacting with patients in a positive, compassionate manner 
    • Furthering critical thinking skills
    • Working with support staff and providers as a team 
    • Maintaining company culture and upholding company values 

    Preferred Qualifications:  

    • Experience with or interest in working with the mental health community  
    • Experience with credentialing and empaneling healthcare providers with insurance companies
    • Experience with an EMR system 
    • Experience with Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, and Teams   
    • Prior experience operating within a private practice/outpatient setting 
    • Certifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Biller (CPB), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
