Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Hematology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Independently preforms a variety of diagnostic laboratory tests in the Clinical Laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Uses knowledge and skill set to assist with oversight of laboratory functions, including quality control, maintenance, training and other required tasks. Performs venipunctures and capillary draws on Inpatients, Emergency Room patients, and Outpatients as needed.
This is a 40-hour per week, benefitted, evening-shift position. DHMC offers a 10% shift differential for evening-shift positions. DHMC and Clinics is offering an $8000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *External applicants only and certain conditions apply.
