Medical Technologist - Hematology jobs in New Jersey
Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Hematology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Short Description
Performs essential duties related to one or more of the clinical subspecialties of Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank and Microbiology/Immunology based on shift. Specific skills required for Molecular Pathology, Flow Cytometry and Point of Care job postings. For Customer Service posting, performs essential duties related to reference lab test processing and resulting.Experience Required
One-year clinical laboratory experience preferred (Student experience acceptable.)
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and completion of an accredited medical technology program preferred.
License/Certification Requirements
Alternatively, possesses qualifications for high complexity testing as evaluated against Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments ’88 (Code of Federal Regulations, Title 42, Part 493.1489)
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) Registry preferred.
