Member Certification Specialist coordinates the certification and credentialing programs of a professional or membership organization. Participates in the development of standards and the creation of testing materials. Being a Member Certification Specialist maintains and monitors a test scheduling system or database. Organizes resources to implement testing schedules and sessions, including locations, testers, technology, and materials. Additionally, Member Certification Specialist assists members with information about programs and resolves any issues with the process. Interfaces with and monitors outside testing providers. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Member Certification Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Job Summary:The Technical Specialist supports CSA Group's account acquisition and growth by interfacing with clients, assisting Strategic Account Managers, Technical Account Managers, and other personnel with quoting and project development, coordination, and execution. Must interact with clients to learn their needs and generate services in order to fulfill and exceed expectations.
Responsibilities:
Quotations. The Technical Specialist assesses client inquiries to determine our team's ability to complete the scope of the project and the required hours necessary to execute the testing and reporting. Must have sufficient experience and expertise to accurately predict timelines and labor.
Projects. The Technical Specialist coordinates with the Operational Teams to ensure technical aspects of testing meet strict quality measures. May assist with questions - from both the Operations team and the client, provide guidance, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues.
Product Line Reviews (PLRs). The Technical Specialist leads or collaborates with Account owners on PLRs. Responsibilities range from initial discussions with the client to coordination with submitting vendors, testing aspects during the program, reporting results, and follow up questions.
Development and Enhancement of Services. Must demonstrate an acute awareness of business development possibilities and work with clients and the CSA Group teams to construct and validate offerings.
Capital Equipment. Will investigate capital equipment purchases and may assist with installation and functionality.
Research. Will be required to research product safety standards, performance testing protocols, legislative and statutory requirements, and other information gathering activities as necessary.
Technical Committees, Trade Shows. The TS will represent CSA Group at select trade shows, and may participate in technical committees relevant to the product categories of our consumer product evaluation division.
Travel. Some travel, likely less than 10% of the time, will be necessary due to visits to clients and trade shows.
Qualifications:
College degree in a relevant technological discipline, and/or six or more years of work experience in the TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) or similar industry
Experience in technical writing, standards development or process development are strong assets
Established network within the TIC industry, include retail and manufacturing client contacts
Knowledge of CSA Group, UL and other standards; experience with a variety of test procedures
Sales or Marketing experience preferred
Mentoring skills. Strong problem-solving ability; detail oriented, high level of
communication skills (verbal and written) excellent listening and retention skills
High level of initiative to meet or exceed targeted goals with minimal supervision
Ability to cope with unpredictable schedule, regular work interruptions, multiple
deadlines and targeted goals
