    JOB SUMMARY

    Position is responsible for program management of game day operations of all campus athletic activities, competitions, and events. Responsible for all student employment related to these programs.  Oversees, organizes, and administers all related operations and people.

     

     

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (provide list of items which are essential to effective outcomes in this role):

    • Provide a first-class game day environment for student athletes, coaches, teams, fans and visitors.  Coordinate and supervise all home intercollegiate athletic events as assigned.  Oversee game day staff, work with other department staff (i.e. Sports Information, Marketing), work with other campus departments (i.e. facilities, security, music, student activities), as well as outside vendors, and game officials.  Assist with the staffing and scheduling of student workers.  Train game day staff, support staff and supervisors.  Assist with physical setup and breakdown of events as needed.  Resolve complaints or problems that arise during events while instilling a Champions of Character game day culture and experience for all to enjoy.
    • Assist with ticket sales strategies and operations including accounting of all gate receipts including concession stand operations and revenues. Oversee all aspects of concession stand operations (i.e. stocking, scheduling workers, maintaining equipment).
    • Plan for and execute a robust schedule of game day promotions including in- game, half-time and game promotional events driving attendance.
    • Assume a leadership role in communications with visiting teams. Ensure the departments "Visiting Team Guide" is up to date with accurate information and distribute to teams prior to their games.  Assist teams with bus drop-off and pick-up, parking, locker room assignments, practice times, and any other needs they arise.
    • Assist in the scheduling of games and practices in athletic facilities.  Work with coaches to ensure their schedules are up-to-date and do not conflict with other teams.
    • Manage and maintain an inventory of all athletic facility equipment.  Oversee repairs as needed and coordinate the disposal of equipment that is no longer in use.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the athletic teams as well as to the individual needs of the team members.  Work toward team unity as well as the general unity of the Campus.  Initiate and follow a team program and schedule that is consistent, reasonable, and effective for the student athlete and the team.  Provide regular support and direction to student athletes.  Make retention of student athletes a goal and priority.
    • Collaboration with and support of other coaches and personnel within the athletic department.  Provide consistent programs and goals across all OU athletic teams.
    • Assist with the budgeting process and provide oversight during the year to assure that programs remain within approved funding levels.  Additionally, adhere to KCAC and NAIA regulations and guidelines.
    • Fulfills commitments to all additional duties as assigned by the director of athletics game day management oversight, support staff supervision, Adidas Contract, administrative and/or teaching responsibilities.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION: (education based on essential job duties and requirements consistent with business necessity): Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field of study, master’s degree preferred.

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (experience based on requirements in role and are consistent with business necessity) Prior experience working within an athletic department specific to event or program management/operations related duties essential.

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse client group. Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted professional behavior, etiquette and standards of protocol that are appropriate within a collegiate athletic setting.
    • Commitment to providing support to Operations as well as work within the game day operations area of the Athletics mission and willingness to collaborate with other staff members to effectively handle department-wide initiatives that cross over intra-departmental boundaries (special events, campus projects, NAIA Championships, etc.).

    WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical attributes required to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation - examples: sitting, lifting #, bending, driving, environmental factors or elements, noise level, stairs in a building, or other factors that will affect working conditions).
