Mortgage Credit Analyst assesses the risk and creditworthiness of loan applicants and recommends loan approval, terms, or application denial. Gathers necessary credit, income, and tax information to conduct financial assessments. Being a Mortgage Credit Analyst reviews and verifies property appraisals, collateral value, and key indicators such as debt-to-income and loan-to-value ratios. Prepares a detailed credit analysis and summary using underwriting guidelines, risk assessment frameworks, and following applicable regulatory compliance. Additionally, Mortgage Credit Analyst may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Mortgage Credit Analyst work is closely managed.   • Position Purpose

    Responsible for assisting with the loan post-closing process by reviewing loan documents for compliance, completeness and accuracy. The position will obtain missing information, prepare files, and provide support to internal and external clients. You will deliver loan packages to investors as well as board loans with our sub-servicer and follow up with loan packages to ensure loans are purchased in a timely manner. You will also clear pre-purchase conditions received from investors as well as receive and process recorded loan docs. Completes all assigned compliance and information security training and comply with the credit union’s policies and procedures related to the Bank Secrecy Act and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Assumes responsibility for:

    • Review and audit closing packages for accuracy and completeness
    • Prepare credit and legal documentation packages for delivery
    • Follow-up with title to correct errors and omissions in closing documents
    • Transmit and/or deliver files to investors
    • Transmit and/or deliver files to sub-servicer
    • Follow-up with trailing documentation
    • Ensure closed loan packages are delivered by deadline
    • Correspond with Title companies and Attorneys
    • Verifies that all stipulations requested are valid and met to ensure that loans are saleable/purchased
    • Input data into investor delivery systems
    • Adhere to investor delivery policies and procedures
    • Adhere to FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA and other investor delivery policies and procedures
    • Collect and follow-up with title companies, attorneys and/or county recorder’s offices to obtain final loan documentation
    • Prepare logs and update records
    • Complies with Credit Union Policies and Procedures, as well as regulatory compliance.
    • Provides back-up to other Real Estate Lending staff as needed.

    Assumes responsibilities for related duties as required or assigned.


    Skills & Qualifications


    Education/Certification & EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of two years’ experience processing conventional and government loans
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Knowledge of real estate lending criteria, compliance, federal/state regulations
    • Active NMLS number is required

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills
    • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment typical to Real Estate Lending
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience with Encompass Software is preferred
